Weather, Water and Race Course
In August the water temperature in the laguna in Amager Strandpark is normally between 20 and 24 degrees celcius when August comes around. Wetsuit will be allowed.
There are little chance of jelly fish in the swimming area. The earlier famous Iron-distance race in Fredericia was known for jelly fish, but this were due to local phenomenons.
How is the weather in Denmark in August?
August is the warmest time of year in Denmark. You can normally experience temperatures between 20 and 25 degrees celcius. There is an average of 200 hours of sun shine in August, which translates to a good chance of a sunny day.
Is it windy in Copenhagen and Sealand?
No, would be our answer – not especially . But as any city by the ocean, winds can occur. As we finalize the bike course during the next few months we will give a more detailed brief on winds.
Denmark has a very good infrastructure and the road surface is generally smooth and level. There will be no train track crossings and we will try to minimize speed bumps on the race course as much as possible.
Transition zones – how is the service level?
We will live up to the upmost levels of athlete service, before, during and after the race. This means that KMD Challenge Copenhagen meet or exceed the service standards from anywhere in the world in the transition zones.
How about race formalities, nutrition, special need bags etc?
We are working really hard on getting everything ready regarding race week schedule, nutrition etc. You can trust us that it is going to be satisfying to anyone’s standards. Stay updated on the website during the summer for updates regarding this.

Is Copenhagen an expensive city to stay in?
As any large European city it can be expensive to eat, drink and live if you want to stay in the center of the city. Try the restaurants on Vesterbro or Norrebro. They offer great food and service at reasonable prices. You can easily get a good meal for €10 pr person at some of the cosy and exotic restaurants.
Look for the green smiley in the window - it ensures you the highest level of quality control in the kitchen.

Is it safe to travel by public transportation?
Most definitely, yes" In Copenhagen you can, safely and easely use public transportation at all hours of the day. Smile at the bus driver and you have a good chance of getting a smile back. Public transportation costs 21 DKK (est 3EUR) for an hour of free traveling within the city borders. The same ticket works in both train, bus and metro. Can I travel by bike in Copenhagen?
Yes, indeed. Copenhagen is the number one bike city in the world. There are bike paths on virtually every road and hundred thousands Copenhageners take the bike to work and school every day.
Many hotels have free bikes for their guests, but you can rent bikes for around 60 – 100 DKK (est 8-12 EUR) per 6 hours.

Registration, Insurance and Contact
Right now you can only register online, but we are working on offering offline registration with bank transfer or cheque. You are always welcome to contact us for further information regarding methods of payment.
Why do I need a license? And what does it cost?
If you don’t hold a license from your national triathlon association, you will need to buy an event license.
When you collect your race bag you have to show proof that you hold a license. If you fail to do so, you can buy a one-day license at the same place you pick up your race bag.
The event license is offered by the Danish Triathlon Association and costs 120 DKK (16 EUR).
With the event license you have a two month membership of Team Challenge and will participate in the Open Danish Championships

Why is the Relay more expensive than Individual?
With a Relay team there are three times the timing chips, finisher shirts, medals and participants needing care after finishing. Therefor the higher price. But nevertheless also three athletes to celebrate the effort.
What does my registration fee cover?
The entry fee covers everything you need during the race, including nutrition, medical care, timing etc. It also covers one ticket to the pasta party, finisher t-shirt, finisher medal, award ceremony and a gift.
Ekstra tickets for the pasta party can be purchased when signing up.
Why do I need a cancellation insurance?
The only way you can cancel your participation in KMD Challenge Copenhagen and get your money refunded, is if you buy the cancellation insurance. You can read the terms here
