Thomas,

If you check this link you'll see a 5-day weather forecast for the relevant areas. From a Challenge CPH cycling perspective I would say wind from North West is the worst direction, this will cause headwinds (of course not dead on all the way) for about 2/3 of the course. Obviously by the same argument wind from South EAST will be rather favourable.

Regarding typical wind speeds its hard to say, this week we've had everything from 0 to 10 m/s. So we just have to wait and see what we get on the 15th. But being aero has never been a bad thing!

TIP
Hi Thomas,

Just to follow up.

Last year on the 15th of August the wind direction was West South West and the windranged on that day was between 3-6 m/s.

http://www.dmi.dk/dmi/vejrarkiv?region=7&year=2009&month=8

The year before that it started in South with 5 m/s then changed to an almost none excisting wind from the North.

If you want precise wind measurements close to the event check out this website:
http://www.kitesurferen.dk/index.php?option=com_wrapper&view=wrapper&Itemid=102

It's a windmill park about 8km North of Amager Strandpark.

Hope this helps.

Hi

I am not at weather expert, but my expirience with the wind on the bike route (the part that goes up the coast) is that the wind is not always as forecasted on land - (wind can be a bit tricky when land meets water). Therefore I also use the below link which shows the wind direction/speed in at the sea (Øresund).
http://www.dmi.dk/dmi/index/danmark/farvandsudsigter/baltsund.htm

I hope this will also help you.

Mikkel
