Three girls, one challenge

Sofie, Jeanette and Lotte, the Krambeck girls decided to sign up for the Challenge Copenhagen relay. The three girls took the decision over a family Christmas lunch, now 150 days prior to race day we sad the girls down for a little talk on the story behind their decision and to learn who the Krambeck girls are.

They will leave the full distance to others and compete against the clock together. Their relay team consist of a swimmer (Jeanette), cyclist (Lotte) and a runner (Sofie), they team up and combine their strengths to reach the finish line on august 15!

What made you decide on participating in the Challenge Copenhagen relay competition?

Sofie
We were gathered at a christmas lunch with the whole family when the conversation fell on the fact that our brother, Jeanette’s husband, had signed up for Challenge Copenhagen. We talked about going along and cheering him on when the conversation slowly turned to focusing on that it would be really cool if 3 girls participated together as a relay team.

We quickly agreed on who would do which discipline. Jeanette was up for the swim, Lotte cycles quite a lot anyway and has done other smaller races. I, myself preferred taking on the marathon as I have already tried it before.

Jeanette
I chose the swim as I saw it as an opportunity to learn how to swim. I haven’t swum since high school so I joined the HarreTri club and now I swim 2-3 times a week.

Lotte
As Sofie said, I do cycle quite a bit, so right now 180 km doesn’t seem so scary, as long as I don’t have to swim or run. And with my newly bought race bike I am so ready for the training to begin in the spring.

Are any of you acquainted with triathlon or will this relay be your first experience of it?

Jeanette
I have participated in the Brøndby women’s Triathlon 3 times and I really enjoyed it.

Lotte
My personal experience is limited to mostly being a spectator, but a lot of my friends have tried it so talks have been on the subject before.

Having Challenge Copenhagen and triathlon with these distances in mind, what thoughts go through your head as to completing each distance and the fact that it is on home ground?

Sofie
I think it is awesome that it is taking place in Denmark. I can’t wait for race day and I know it will be an amazing experience.

Jeanette
I have never swum so far before and im really excited about swimming in open water. I just don’t hope that Sofie will need a headtorch on her run ;)

The finish line in front of the Danish parliament, what thoughts have you guys made on crossing the finish line together after such a challenging day?

Sofie
There is no doubt that it is going to be an amazing experience when we do cross that finishline after a preferably fantastic race with some good results. The feeling of pride and unity will definitely be high.

Jeanette
It’s only just now I think about how cool it will be when we cross that finish line together. It will definitely be at the top of the conversation at the next couple of family dinners.

Remember to cheer the girls on at race day!
