Subject :Bike Route - New Pavement Patches.. 2010-06-28 15:53:18

TIP
FYI

Rode the northern part of the bike route yesterday and there's new patches of pavement on some of the rough/bumpy areas. They haven't fixed everything but it's a major improvement.

The road work has mainly been before and after the small town of Grønholt, where it was also much needed.

However it would still be nice if Challengecopenhagen swept the worst areas for rocks etc before the race. Like the following areas (prioritized below):
- the 90 degree right hand turn by the town of Fredtofte
- the sharp left hand turn on Enghaven road before one gets to Hørsholmvej
- the part through/in Avderød

Maybe if we can generate a hot spot list for ChallengeCopenhagen to sweep after it would be much easier. So did I miss any areas that needs sweeping?

IF there is indeed some form of sweeping patrol going out, my priorities would be similar:

- the right hand turn in Fredtofte is the most critical, as you mentioned.

- The left bend from Dageløkkevej onto Enghaven

- The roundabout just before Lyngby Hovedgade has been awful earlier in the spring, causing me a crash (granted i was leaving work so might not have been paying attention), but is better now. (However, this only comes into play if we actually need to go around it "properly", but I hope we will be able to go straight through if car traffic is blocked.)

- That said, I already know about the above corners (though foreign competitors my not). My biggest fear is puncturing on broken glass going through town on a Sunday morning in the summer...

Apart from that, the improvements to the roads that we've seen lately are very good. There is still some rough surfaces requiring you to pedal harder, but most of the "game over potholes" are now filled in.

Did 2 loops last night and the roads are now much better. There are still a few areas that are rough but we are riding on roads and not a track. I agree about sweeping as there are stones in some areas that could be a problem if you dont know to expect them. Its a great bike route in my opinion, its beutiful, flat and fast but with a few suprises! I would expect a few bottles to be lost by rear bottle holders so watch out for that especially in Lyngby!

Did a loop earlier this week and the bad spots had been swept!!

Also noticed some more repairs/patched on the stretch leading up to Lønholdt and the road your cross that leads to Fredensborg.

Did another loop today and the really bad spot at the 90 degree right hand turn in Fredtofte is still clean!
