Subject :What size are the botlles for the bike ride?.. 2010-08-07 12:14:20

Jørn Steffensen
Hi CC,

I have browsed through this forum, and read the race info, but I have not been able to establish the size of the bottles for energy drink for the bike ride.

Wil energy be available in 500 ml or 800 ml bottles? or both?

Maybe a trivial question, but this is my first race, and I would just like to have an idea of how often I need to switch bottles.

Kind regards,
Jørn

Will ½ l. bottles not be available?
It's only ½ l. bottles that fit on my bike due to the size... :-(

On this web page you find the test packet, and my best guess is that it would be the same size and style of bottle we get on race day.. 750 mL..

You can allways get your own bottles handled out 100 meter before and after the Aid station

TIP
I think 0.5l and 0.75l High5 bottles have the same diameter. It's only the length/height thats different. So I think your bottle holder Stine will hold the 0.75l version unless they're placed so the length/height is a problem in placing/grabbing the bottles.

It's the height of the bottles due to the frame size of my bike...

You can carry 2 bottles behind your seat, or an aero bottle between your aerobars, height won't matter then.

Hello Stine,

I have the same problem with my frame and I bought two bottle holders, which are open at the side.

I also have 2 bottle cages that are open in the side on my frame - but there's still only space for a ½l. bottle.
Then I have two bottle cages on the seat as well (I'm too short to reach them while I'm biking though), and also a aero drink system in front. The plans is to take the bottles from the water stations and squeeze them into the aero drink system and throw them away right away again.
Would just be easier if there was also ½ l. bottles available at the water stations, so that's why I asked...
