I am a completely ordinary person...

Remember Per Thomsen, the 123 kg guy who told us his story a couple of months back? This is the sequal in what is turning out to be a fantastic adventure!

Previous weight: 93kg
Present weight: 86 kg

Counting on weighing 80 kg around April 1st.

Through months of triathlon training with Challenge Copenhagen as your main goal, what improvements have you experienced on your body as well as your mind?

I have really started to notice an extra energy during my daily life, where as I couldn’t swim 150 meters or even train multiple times a day, now I can. The whole philosophy of triathlon is something that I have been able to use in my job and day to day activities. The whole idea of working your way through the good and bad periods is something that has really given me positive experiences, and that is a great feeling.

I am a completely ordinary person who happens to have set a goal, and I know everyone can achieve this. It is only a question about having the strength and the belief in yourself to make it happen. Stop watching TV in the morning and take a trip to the pool instead.

With a start weight of 123 kg, it is not possible just to put on your running shoes and not expect injuries. With your weight loss have you experienced an improvement in your performance in any of the different disciplines?

My initial weight loss came through spinning when I still couldn’t run, I only started that recently. Because of the weather and my weight being so high the biggest improvement that I have felt is on the swim, since the last time we spoke. I can swim 3800 meters now (thanks Peter Budtz, Endurance Sport), which is super cool! Training boosts my confidence, the key is to set yourself milestones and then reaching them, it keeps your motivation levels high.

I often experience people thinking that me participating in an iron-distance racing is really extreme, and then when I tell them I started with a weight of 123 kg their reaction is: WOW!

Can you describe any positive and/or negative experiences you have faced throughout the past couple of months?

The biggest positive experience has definitely been with the swim, where I feel that I have improved the most. Apart from that, even though I train everyday it feels like I have a whole lot more energy now.
I would really have liked to have improved on all three disciplines more than what I already have, but over the next couple of months my focus will be on the cycling and the run anyway. Last Sunday I asked my wife if she felt that I trained too much? – And she replied: You do this how you want to. That support means so much to me and my motivation coming up to summer

Any final comments?

Can I have an invoice for Challenge Copenhagen 2011?
