How to do a triathlon training camp...
A training camp is a great way to focus on your training, getting away from your everyday life and routines and to meet new people with whom you share the passion of triathlon. In this camp there will be athletes on different levels, from beginners and up to professional athletes, but even though if you have little or no experience in the sport of triathlon a camp can be a really good way of getting to know the sport more deeply, to give your fitness and technique a boost and to be able to have good rest between the sessions.
The program
Our program for the camp is put together in a way that will take you through many aspects of the triathlon long distance training. It is build up around a 3days+2days structure, with an easy or rest day in between.
Also, the impact of the body will be biggest in the end, and there for the beginning should not be done in a way that does not feel too hard.
In April we still have closer to 4 months to the Challenge Copenhagen race it self, and this is a good time to do a portion of base training, getting the right technique worked in and mentally prepare for the last buildup before the event.
But remember: the key element is to go slow when you should, and thereby have the power to go fast when that is on the program.
The elements
You will have the option of swimming 6 times with a program to follow and a coach to look on your technique. There are 4 bike rides planned, witch takes you through variated terrain, mostly in group rides but also sections of time trailing where you can ride in the same intensity you have planned to do in the Challenge Copenhagen race.
The run is divided into both two off bike runs, which simulates what you will experience in race situations, a track session with both technique and speed work and a long run to the lighthouse, witch is the most scenic running route in the area.
On the last day you will have the opportunity of doing and Olympic distance race, where you can practice the changes form on discipline to the next, in a race like situation.
Happy training.
